Montessori Curriculum

Atreya Vidyaniketan> Learning > Curriculum >Montessori Curriculum

Started in 2006, Atreya Vidyaniketan’s Montessori method of education has grown from a single environment of 10 children to 2 environments of 60 children. Presently we have an age group of 2.3 years to 6 years working together in one environment under the guidance of IMTC trained faculty. The school is also recognised by the IMTC and follows a curriculum envisioned by Dr. Maria Montessori. This key stage introduces individuals to practices of exercises of practical life, languages, Math, Social Studies, Science, General Knowledge, Art, Music and some relaxing yoga.

PRACTICAL LIFE BASED ACTIVITIES

To aid the child in Social adaptation we have introduced several activities that help them to grow independently. Children are trained in simple everyday chores and their effort has never ceased to amaze us.

SENSORIAL ACTIVITIES

‘NO IDEA IS CONCEIVED IN OUR MIND INDEPENDENT OF OUR FIVE SENSES’ – ALBERT EINSTIEN

Tactically designed sensorial activities enhance the power of senses and its impression of seeing and listening to the world and experiencing it in all its glory.

LANGUAGE BASED ACTIVITIES

Little steps towards writing and reading begin at this stage with alphabets and words taught using phonetics and sounds. The progression into non-phonetic words and grammar is gradual and is achieved through rhymes, stories and conversation. Our methods and materials for language improvement are regularly revised and updated, introducing new techniques for better learning. English, Kannada and Hindi being offered as main subjects and with an assurance of a smooth transition to the next level, this key stage is vital in building fluency and confidence in language application.

MATH

Math starts with the exploration of numbers from 1 to 10 and it’s understanding of quantities and corresponding symbols. The gradual progression of the decimal system of numbers 1 to 100 followed by higher levels of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division ensures the gain of concrete experience in mathematical operations.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

With the introduction of History, Geography, Art and Music at this level, the subject is learnt through each country’s music, food, art, custom and culture and many more fascinating facts.

IT’S A BIG WORLD OUT THERE. WHY NOT BEGIN ITS EXPLORATION HERE!

SCIENCE

Science is always a subject of interest to every child, with experiments and observations, plants, flowers and gardening in Botany, the mystery of the human body, animals and birds in Zoology.

Welcome to a world of limitless knowledge and imagination
