Colour Splash Sankranthi Festivities in Atreya
Makara Sankranthi is one of the famous festivals that our Indian system cherishes with great enthusiasm. It is more prominently known as the “Harvest Festival” and represents the end of winter.
The students of Atreya learned that the festival is celebrated as a tribute to the Sun god and is offered the first portion of the farmers harvest with gratitude.
The Pre-Primary section of Atreya Vidyaniketan celebrated Makar Sankranthi on 16th January 2018. The teachers and our tiny tots dressed in traditional attires. The celebration reflected village atmosphere, where teachers took an active part in decorating the rooms with creative art. Colorful rangolis highlighted the celebration of Sankranthi.
Sugarcane, Diyas, Sweet Pongal, Plantain leaf, Peanuts, Sesame, and Jaggery attracted everyone with a perfect traditional festival atmosphere.
To make children understand the values of culture and tradition, teachers taught them to perform pooja and also to welcome all the teachers of the school.
Children had great joy in performing the festival rituals. The recitation of Shloka was also the part of an event. The Pre-Primary teachers showcased their talent by preparing festival greeting card and also helped children to write wishes on them.
The event ended by distributing “Ellu-Bella” to all the children and teachers. The children enjoyed the festival celebration with high-spirit and a great enthusiasm.
Hope our children always soar high just like the colorful kites that dot the sky!
“Happy Makar Sankranthi”
